Connect Your Device to Wi‑Fi

Get your NextFriend device online, linked to your dashboard, and ready to start interacting in just a few minutes.

Before You Start

Create Your Account First

Before powering on your device, go to dashboard.nextfriend.ai, create your account, and log in.

If you do not see a device listed yet, that is normal. Your device will appear after it connects to Wi‑Fi.

Important: During setup, your phone or computer will temporarily connect to the device’s own Wi‑Fi network before the device joins your home or business Wi‑Fi.

Setup Steps

Step-by-Step Connection Guide

Follow the steps below in order to connect your device.

Power On the Device

Plug in your NextFriend device using the included power supply.

Allow about 1–2 minutes for the device to fully boot up.

Connect to the Setup Wi‑Fi

On your phone or computer, open your Wi‑Fi settings and look for this network:

NextFriend Setup

Connect to it to begin setup.

Ignore the Internet Warning

Your device may show a warning message like:

“Internet may not be available”

This is normal. Stay connected to NextFriend Setup and continue.

Open the Setup Page

After connecting to the setup Wi‑Fi, open your browser and go to:

http://192.168.42.1

If the page does not open automatically, type the address manually into your browser.

Connect to Your Wi‑Fi

On the setup screen:

  • Select your Wi‑Fi network from the list
  • Enter your Wi‑Fi password
  • Click Connect

Wait for the Device to Come Online

Once connected, the device will exit setup mode and join the internet.

This may take about 30–90 seconds.

Confirm It in Your Dashboard

Go back to dashboard.nextfriend.ai and log in.

Your device should now appear in your device list.

Customize Your Character

Click the gear icon next to your device. From there you can:

  • Change the voice
  • Set the personality
  • Add a name and backstory
  • Adjust how your character behaves

You’re Ready

Your NextFriend device is connected and ready to interact.
