Setup & Wi-Fi Connection:

Before You Start

Create Your Account First

Important: We recommend setting up your account before powering on the device.

Go to dashboard.nextfriend.ai, create your account, and log in.

At this stage you should see no devices listed — this is correct. Your device will appear once it connects in the steps below.

Step-by-Step Connection Guide

Step 1

Power On the Device

Plug in your Nextfriend device using the included power supply.

Give it about 1–2 minutes to fully boot up before moving to the next step.

Step 2

Connect to Setup Wi-Fi

Once the device boots, it will broadcast its own Wi-Fi network. On your phone or computer, open Wi-Fi settings and look for:

BoneDaddy Setup

Connect to it.

Step 3

Internet Warning — This Is Normal

Your device may show a message:

"Internet may not be available"

This is expected. When prompted, select "Connect only this time" and continue.

Step 4

Open the Setup Page

After connecting to the device Wi-Fi, open your browser and go to:

http://192.168.42.1

If the page doesn't load automatically, type the address above directly into your browser.

Step 5

Connect to Your Home Wi-Fi

You will see the Nextfriend setup screen. From here:

  • Select your home Wi-Fi network from the dropdown
  • Enter your Wi-Fi password
  • Click Connect
Step 6

Device Comes Online

After connecting, the device will automatically join the internet. You may be redirected to dashboard.nextfriend.ai — if not, navigate there manually.

Step 7

Confirm Device in Dashboard

Log into your account at dashboard.nextfriend.ai.

Your device should now appear in the device list. If you see it — you're live.

Step 8

Customize Your Character

Click the gear icon next to your device. From here you can:

  • Change the voice
  • Set the personality
  • Add a name and backstory
  • Control how it behaves

You're Ready

Your Nextfriend device is fully active and ready to interact.
